Yá’át’ééh and Hello,

I hope everyone is well and following the Navajo Nation restrictions and CDC Guidelines as much as possible, and staying safe. You can find the CDC Guidelines on the school website, lukaschool.org, as well as on the web.

I’d like to provide an update on Lukachukai Community School’s situation at this time. Presently, we are still in a ‘School Closure’ mode per Navajo Nation. Essential Staff are required to follow safety protocols such as wearing PPE at all times and keeping social distancing. A final report card with 1-3rd Qtr. grades will be emailed out; due to the Pandemic there is no 4th Qtr. grade. The Summer Food Program is not happening due to the Pandemic; however the application for additional EBT credit has been submitted and accepted. Please see the flyer on the school website. The LCS New School Project has been continuing during the school closure but the timelines have been moved forward a bit, due to the Pandemic.

Any additional work sessions are required to be carried out as a ‘Remote Work’ session, which means all staff work from home or at a distance. At this time, LCS Staff are developing 3 Plans of Re-opening for School-Year 2020-2021 and are also making preparations. It has not been decided which plan will be implemented at the start of the new school year but for your information are as follows:

*Plan A: Full Re-Entry

*Plan B: Blended of Re-Entry and Distance Learning

*Plan C: Distance Learning

LCS is striving to push through the obstacles created by the Pandemic and understands the feeling of confusion of where your child’s education stands. Please know, the school is still standing strong and continuing operation as much as is allowable.

Continue to seek for updates on the school website, lukaschool.org. Please look forward to a survey for your input on the school website. Almost all communication will be done through the school website, the REMIND App, email and phone. My school contact information at this time is: cjodie@lukaschool.org. Thank you and please continue to stay safe by staying home, keeping your distance, wearing your mask, and keeping your hands clean.
